Video: Riding Glasgow's £692 million cycle path

Cyclists and walkers get to use M74 extension yesterday ahead of motorway opening next month

Among those who took advantage of the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity was Carlton Reid, known for BikeBiz, IPayRoadTax and Quickrelease.TV, who took along his video camera - well, the one on his iPhone, but we're sure you'll agree the results are top-notch - to get some great shots of people enjoying taking to the road, despite the weather.

We particularly like the runners with their traffic cone hats - we're guessing that the road will see plenty proper cones in the years ahead, giving motorists the opportunity to count them to while away the time while stuck in a traffic jam.

With registration costing £5 a head, yesterday's event also raised thousands of pounds for the charities Spinal Injuries Scotland, The Lighthouse Club, Macmillan Cancer Support, British Heart Foundation Scotland, Royal National Institute of Blind People, Yorkhill Children’s Foundation, Scottish Association for Mental Health and The Hospices of Scotland.
