Surrey County Council release video highlights of the county's golden summer of sport (+ video)

Cycling takes centre of stage in film showcasing county's role in London 2012...

Exactly two months ago today - somehow, it seems at lot longer - Surrey's roads hosted the Olympic Road Race with hundreds of thousands of fans lining the route as the county played host to the first of four London 2012 cycling events, the others being the women's road race the following day and the time trials which started and finished at Hampton Court.

While the banners and bunting have long since been taken down, the memories of the summer will live on for a long time and Surrey County Council has produced a short video showcasing not only the events broadcast worldwide, but also some of the people, including volunteers, who made it possible.

Cycling wasn't the only focus - some 35 countries also used the county's sports facilities for their Olympic preparation, nor is it the last time we'll see a major bike race there - the Tour of Britain, which concluded in Guidford a fortnight ago, will be heading back to Surrey next year, which will also see the RideLondon Classic elite race alongside the RideLondon 100 sportive.

We know that plenty of road.cc users were out in Surrey enjoying the Olympic events too - with some of your photos featured in the road.cc and the Collarbone Olympic photo challenge round-up we published earlier this month.
