Dartmoor Classic promises to be even bigger sellout when entries open in two weeks

Possible new start point for 2013 event with record number of riders

With only two weeks to go before online entries begin for the Dartmoor Classic sportive, organisers are expecting a record sell-out event.

Another 200 places have been made available this year, but last November, all 2800 slots were filled in 3 weeks, while a further 400 were happy to be registered as reserves.

Online registration for the event, run in association with Specialized, begins at 9a.m. on Monday, October 29th. Click here for more information.

The provisional date for the event is Sunday 23rd June.

2012 could well be the last that takes in the traditional Dartmoor Classic route, as plans to develop the land usually used for the 'depart village' are moving forward. That means it could be the last event to leave from Abbrook Park Sports and Social Club, in Kingsteignton, near Newton Abbot, which has been home to the Mid-Devon Cycling Club for many years and has played host to the U.C.I. ratified sportive since its inception in 2007.

Fear not; suitable alternative venues have already been identified and negotiations are currently taking place with the preferred option.
