British Cycling has this morning announced the team for the UCI Road World Championships which start in Mendrisio, Switzerland, on Thursday.
Mark Cavendish, who withdrew from the Tour of Missouri earlier this month with a lung infection returns in a strong line-up for the men's road race, with team mates including David Millar and Roger Hammond, fresh from the Vuelta, and several riders who have just completed the Tour of Britain including Ben Swift, winner of Stage 7.
Chris Froome doubles up in both the men's road race and the individual time trial, where he will be joined by Bradley Wiggins who will be aiming to swap his British national champion's jersey for a rainbow-striped one.
Meanwhile, Nicole Cooke defends her world champion's jersey in the women's road race, while in the individual time trial Emma Pooley, Olympic silver medallist in Beijing in the event but 8th in last year's world championships, will be looking to top the podium to cap an outstanding season.
