Late summer when air is a bit cooler and it feels spot on.
Autumn when there's still a bit of warmth in the sun, colour in the trees and less people out in full replica racing strip with matching socks. Wearing the right autumn kit, of course...
Spring! Winter storms gone, summer heat not yet, lots of wildflowers and smiley faces.
Definitely late spring, because the mountain tops close to home finally get rid of the snow and can be climbed without bulky warm gear. (and no more treacherous iced patches hiding in curves when descending ha ha).
cold with the sun shinning
We have seasons?
In Scotland we have one long dreachfest.
It has to be late spring, when it's just got warm enough to go out without all the extra layers
Summer! Particularly an evening ride when it is still light past 10pm.
The optimism of Spring!
It has to be Spring.
You have just spent the winter grinding your way through horizontal rain into a seemingly never ending headwind. You have endured the look of distain from every dog-walker you pass. Your right legs have been soaked by passing cars with steamed up windows for no less than 5 months. The skinny greyhounds you call your heros grit their teeth and demonstrate just how tough it is to be a pro by giving it their all up a greasy wall of cobbles in Belgium. You wonder (from the comfort of your warm living room, naturally) how they do it. Then all of a sudden comes that one Sunday we all long for. Your diary is clear. The weather forecast shows nothing but a beautiful little yellow ball. The wind can't be bothered to come out to play. And somehow by some god-given miracle the stars have aligned....the mrs is away all weekend, the local bike shop has a Saturday clearance and your cycling mates all have the green card for a Sunday ride..... Bliss.
I tend to prefer winter, although it can get very tedious after a few weeks.
winter in turboland and then spring thinking I am Belgian and riding the classics rvv etc ... ...
they're all good, but really? summer
Any time is good but summer is best
Winter for the promise offered by the very rare, glorious opportunity to get outside!
Spring, for the anticipation of a great summer.
Spring, for the anticipation of a great summer.
That first ride of the spring, when the salt of the winter has washed away and the roads are finally dry, leaving you full of optimism about how you will train conscientiously and won't eat rubbish food, and that by the end of the year your peers will look upon you as a god of the hill climb as proven by your strava segment profile and resting pulse rate of 40.
Up until that first puncture of course.
Autumn, to bring out the gear that's been sat unused for the summer and squeeze the last good days out the year.
Regardless of the weather.... If I can get out, I'm out...
Summer in High Alps, everytime!!!
Wonderful clear and cool spring mornings...
Has to be summer really :).
However, I do like dry autumn and spring days as well. The air is fresh, not too hot. etc.
Its got to be 5.30 am on the way to work, lovely way to start the day
Without doubt it's the bright, dry, still days in the heart of winter. The right kit, the right route and the right company and its a rarified joy all day. I'm a winter snap man
Crisp breezy autumnal days all the way
There ain't no such thing as a favourite season- I just love to ride all year round.
clear crisp Autumn!
Autumn- with spring and summer mileage in my legs it is when I manage my biggest and fastest rides before long work hours kick in meaning reduced time on the bike, more weight on my belly and nearly back to square one by Jan!
spring.
