Route announced and entries open for 2014 MITIE London Revolution

Applications open today for the largest two-day cycling event in the UK

The 2014 route for the largest multi-day cycling event in the UK, the MITIE London Revolution, has been announced. The two day, 185 mile sportive will take place on the weekend of May 17-18.

Applications open on November 5 for the route which takes cyclists over London landmarks such as Tower Bridge and Box Hill as well as around the Herne Hill Velodrome. Linking these landmarks are scenic routes through Epping Forest, the Chilterns and the North Downs. The two days of cycling, which take riders on a 360º loop around London, are broken up by an overnight refuge at Ascot racecourse.

The Saturday night at Ascot is where the MITIE Revolution is looking to differentiate itself from other multi-day sportives around the country as the most social event of the year. Those that take advantage of the overnight camping option will be provided with ample distraction from their aching legs with bars and live music in the evening. If that’s not enough post-ride massages will be on offer.

On November 5, when applications for places open, three different packages will be available. The full, 185 mile weekend ticket will cost £89, but if you want to take advantage of the evening festivities and camping at Ascot as well it’ll cost you £169. For either the Saturday or the Sunday as a stand-alone day, the price will be £45.

Entrants will be supporting Breakthrough Breast Cancer, which is the event charity chosen by organisers Threshold Sports. Applications can be made at www.london-revolution.com and they opened at midday today. Overnight camping sold out last year, and is expected to again this year.

as long as everyones going in the same direction at the same time what does it matter which direction they are headed?

That aside this looks like a cool event to participate in.

Why are they going the wrong way around the track? Doesn't fill you with confidence about the organisers does it!
