Castelli Lightness Glove

Castelli's Lightness gloves do a good job of keeping your hands warm in typical spring and autumn conditions, or even on cool summer mornings if you have cold blood running through your veins.

They're single thickness, the back sections being made from Thermoflex, which is a stretchy, breathable polyester with a slightly fleecy surface next to your skin. It adds a touch of insulation to keep the frost off your fingers but it's not shag pile. I've been wearing them when the temperature is around about the 10C mark.

The lowers are Clarino synthetic leather, with a rubbery print across the palm that stops them slipping on wet bars. There's an extra layer between the thumb and forefinger that provides reinforcement when you're resting on the hoods, but there's no padding so I've been wearing them on top of a pair of track mitts. The combination works well.

The stretchy cuffs extend just above your wrists so you don't get any draughts, and there's a little reinforcing tab just in the right place for pulling them on.

Neat little graphics aside, that's your lot. They're soft, they're low bulk, they keep your hands warm in middling temperatures. You can buy cheaper, but these are well made and they do a good job. Tidy!
