At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

A decent pair of socks can go a long way to making or breaking a ride. Get cold or wet feet, worse still both and you could really be struggling - and that's where the Prendas Ciclismo Midweight Primaloft Wool socks come in.

The midweight Primaloft/Wool socks, as the name suggests, have a blend of primaloft, wool, nylon and elastane. They're designed to perform in a variety of conditions thanks to the blend of materials. The sales pitch from Prendas says they will continue to do the job down to zero degrees Celsius but it goes on to describe them as perfect for spring or autumn.

The reality is they probably are better suited to the slightly warmer climes of the spring or autumn. They are comfortable, coming up above the ankle. There are no seams to make them rub. Made in Italy you'd expect them to be up to scratch, and the only other quality worth mentioning is they appear to be hard wearing.

If you like your footwear to be comfortable and breathable then the Prendas Primaloft socks will fit the bill. Just don't make them your go to pair in winter, any other time of year you're feet are in for a treat.

Verdict

A comfortable treat for your feet but not during the depths of winter.
