SPEED 4.5 ACC_frei1.pngVeltec launches new £799 45mm carbon/alloy wheelset
Veltec Wheels is a German company established in 1995 and its range of carbon fibre and aluminium wheels are now available in the UK.
It has just launched its latest wheelset, a 45mm deep section carbon and aluminium wheelset priced at £799.
The new Veltec Speed 4.5ACC wheelset combines an aluminium brake track with a carbon fibre construction. While some similar wheels combine an aluminium rim with a carbon fairing, Veltec says the carbon fibre is a structural element of the rim, and contributes to the stiffness as much as the aerodynamics.

The rims are laced to the company’s own Shimano and Campagnolo compatible SR hubs with 20/24 Sapim CX-Ray spokes. Claimed weight is 1,745g which is reasonable for a carbon/aluminium deep section wheelset.
If you read Dave’s piece on wind tunnel testing last week, you’ll know that aerodynamics trumps weight.
Veltec also offers the rims with a disc brake hubset as well. The wheels are supplied with rim tape and quick release skewers.
