Video: Elia Viviani's Team Sky Pinarello Dogma F8

Team Sky sprinter talks us through his 2016 race bike and equipment choices

Team Sky’s Italian sprinter Elia Viviani will be one to watch in the sprint finishes this year, and he’ll be trusting his team issue Pinarello Dogma F8 to be up to the task. In this video produced by Shimano, Elia talks us through his bike and the reasons for some of his equipment choices.

The Dogma F8 is Pinarello’s current flagship model, and is the same bike that the rest of the team use, even Chris Froome. While most other manufacturers provide a choice of bikes, from lightweight climbing models to aero road bikes that are designed solely to be fast in a sprint or breakaway, Team Sky has to make do with the same bike regardless of the demands of the stage or race. In this era of dedicated bikes, that’s a lot to ask, but the F8, based on Team Sky’s record, appears to be up to the task.

There are no major changes for the 2016 Team Sky bikes, the main difference, one you can easily spot, is a refresh of the frame graphics. That aside, there’s the same Dura-Ace Di2 drivetrain with C50 carbon fibre wheels, Stages power meter and PRO handlebars and, in this case, a Vive Sprint Carbon stem, that the team used last year.
