Primal goes back to the 1980s with limited edition cycling jersey
British company Primal has gone back to the 1980s for inspiration for its latest limited edition jersey, the £50 Wuz-Zappenin.
“Our designers have been inspired by the outrageous shapes, colours and floppy disk generated fun from the era of big hair, big style and even bigger cell phones,” says the company.
“We personally love the new retro clothing and hope to see more people that aren’t afraid to show off some personality in the peloton.”
The bold and colourful clothing is a new limited edition range and features the Wuz-Zappenin jersey (pictured above) and matching Get in Shape and Knock Out socks.
The Wuz-Zappenin jersey costs £50 and is made from a SpeedPro fabric which is designed to be breathable and keep you dry cycling/throwing shapes in hot weather. It’s available in six sizes. It also has an SPF 35 treatment.
The fit is based on the shape and cut of one of Primal’s Sport Cut Jerseys, a bit more relaxed than a race jersey. There are raglan sleeves, three rear pockets and a full-length YKK zipper.
The Get in Shape and Knock Out socks costs £7 a pair and are also made from a fabric intended to keep your tootsies cool and dry. They have a 6in cuff.

I was tempted to try Galibier gloves but opted for Endura Freezing Point from LBS last year. Not cheap (£60, I think). I'd prefer a shorter cuff...

Retro: for when you've run out of ideas and the deadline is fast approaching.
Pop will eat itself. If contemporary culture keeps falling back on retro culture, eventually there will be a generation with no culture of its own to become nostalgic about, the retro feedback loop will collapse, and everyone and everything will be grey.

I was around in the eighties and, for the life of me, I cannot recall anyone not in the care of the community wearing stuff like this. I think they just make it up.
This jersey is amazing ordering now, I will be the first to wear in Mallorca. I genuinely think this is cool, so bored of black, red stripes etc. YAWN!!

something like the dhb blok is probably somewhere between the two haha. My opinion is that with the exception of Cancellara* no one really looks cool in skin tight lycra, so one might as well try and have a bit of fun.

I would wear the socks, I think you would need to be a proper strong rider to get away with the jersey though. Or be riding a 1980's retro bike.
The socks are nice but the jersey a bit much. There seems to be a lurid 80s/90s cycle-fashion revivial going on at the moment - dayglo everything next!
