Coros OMNI Smart Helmet

This connected helmet has built in, earbud-free bone conduction audio that still allows you to hear traffic noise around you. It comes with a keypad that you mount to your stem, so you can take calls hands-free from your phone using the bluetooth connectivity. LED lights ensure visibility, and using the Coros app (available on Android or iOS) you can save and share ride data, and follow routes using voice commands. All in all, this is certainly more than just any old lid.

Velco Wink Bar connected handlebars    

Smart helmets, and now smart handlebars too. The Winkbar from Velco has a built-in tracker to prevent theft and can also navigate you using LED lights. The patented 'Winknav' system signals to tell you which direction to go, and the lights themselves are 224 lumens which can be activated automatically or manually via the Winkbar app. The anti-theft bike tracker uses GPS and GLONASS, allowing you to check on your steed from anywhere in the world.

Humon oxygen-measuring wearable

This hexagonal device is a personal coach that uses artificial intelligence to help you train smarter. You wear it on your thigh, and it can give real-time feedback on a number of key metrics to your smart phone, watch or GPS head unit. It charges wirelessly and has a 12 hour battery life, and Humon spent a year analysing results of guinea pig athletes across the US who tested beta versions. The finished article has now arrived, and is available to pre-order now for $295 with the units shipping from February 28th.

This tracking device is super compact and has a battery life of up to 8 months, so could easily be slipped into a saddle bag and forgotten about unless you need to call it into action. This French crowd-funded innovation makes up for its pretty intimidating appearance by being specifically designed for two-wheeled riders, claiming to filter out all harmful particles present in urban air. The filtration system actually offers more protection than the highest EN149-FFP3 European standard, and also comes in an array of eye-catching designs.
