Colnago and Adidas launch retro-inspired trainers

Colnago fan or owner? These are the trainers for you

If you’re a Colnago owner or fan and in the market for some new trainers, this is for you. Colnago and Adidas are two brands with a long history in their respective markets, and they have just partnered on a new collection of shoes available only through the Size? shoe retailer.

The two shoes in this new collection have been inspired by classic 70s and 80s trainers and also reflect details from modern Colnago bikes. Both shoes are made from Pellegrini Italian leather and have some pretty unique details.

The Kamanda is styled on a football fans' favourite shoe from the 80s and has a transparent outsole revealing a carbon fibre effect. The iconic Adidas stripes and heel tab are finished in Saronni red to imitate a classic Colnago paint finish.

The Trimm Star was originally released in 1985 as a lightweight training shoe and has a sole made from recycled rubber imitating the tyres of 70s racing bicycles.

If you like the sound of all that, the Trimm Star shoes cost £90 and the Kamanda shoes are £120. You can get your grubby mitts on a pair on 29th December by heading to any Size? shop or via their website.

Maybe some cycling shoes next? Adidas has history here, producing cycling shoes in the 60s with the Spezial before famously providing Eddy Merckx with cycling shoes in 1971. More recently Adidas was the first clothing sponsor of Team Sky before Rapha and Castelli got involved, and they have dabbled with small collections of jerseys and shorts.

David worked on the road.cc tech team from 2012-2020. Previously he was editor of Bikemagic.com and before that staff writer at RCUK. He's a seasoned cyclist of all disciplines, from road to mountain biking, touring to cyclo-cross, he only wishes he had time to ride them all. He's mildly competitive, though he'll never admit it, and is a frequent road racer but is too lazy to do really well. He currently resides in the Cotswolds, and you can now find him over on his own YouTube channel David Arthur - Just Ride Bikes
