Cannondale launch the Treadwell, with built-in phone mount and sensor

Cannondale have introduced the new Treadwell leisure bike to their range, with a phone mount and wheel sensor that allows you to instantly connect to the Cannondale App for an up-front display at your fingertips.

Described as "the ultimate grab and go bike", the Treadwell has what Cannondale calls an easy geometry and a lightweight aluminium frame so it's not too much stress to haul around. A low standover height with an easy reach should make for a position that's a bit nippier than a cruiser but by no means racey, and Cannondale have also specced a quilted saddle and grip tape on the pedals for further comfort. 

The top-end EQ model has a front rack and mudguards included, and there are standard or step-through frame options. Internal cable routing make for a sleek appearance, and the 650b wheels dressed with 47mm tyres and disc brakes make it appropriate for road or off-roading. Shimano Tourney 7 speed gearing features on the Treadwell 3, with 9 speed Microshift Advent on the Treadwell 2 and Shimano Altus 9 speed on the EQ. 

The 'Intellimount' that allows riders to mount their phone comes courtesy of SP Connect, and in conjunction with a Garmin-developed wheel sensor you can register and connect to the Cannondale App instantly with a spin of the front wheel. This app has all the bells and whistles of a cycling and fitness app combined, with a GPS dashboard for when your riding and maintenance alerts, calories burned and even the amount of carbon emissions you've saved by ditching the car to analyse post-ride.    

Cannondale cite the propensity of the millennial generation to care more about their health and wellbeing than those before them as the reason for prioritising the integration of smart tech on the Treadwell.

The Treadwell starts at £599.99 for the Treadwell 3, going up to £699.99 for the Treadwell 2 and £799.99 for the top-end Treadwell EQ with a front rack and mudguards.
