It’s become common for Tour de France jersey winners to arrive in Paris with a specially painted bike to match their accomplishment in the greatest cycle race, but it’s rare you can actually buy the same bike. Specialized is bucking that trend by offering just 100 S-Works Venge Disc Sagan 7x Limited Edition Framesets for a cool $7,000.
Peter Sagan is used to custom painted frames, he’s had some cool bikes over the years. This new Venge which celebrates his record 7th winning of the green jersey is probably the best yet. It’s all green on the driveside, nicely matching his jersey.
But flip the bike around and it’s completely different. The block green paint has been replaced inspired by the Tour de France and his route to the green jersey. I remember Trek doing a split paint job on a carbon mountain bike many years ago, but the execution on this bike is first class.
The frames will been hand-painted in Italy and will be exactly the same as the frame Sagan rode on stage 21 of the Tour de France. The exact build is up to you so you could fit any groupset, but if you want a replica you’ll need a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset and Roval CLX64 wheels and a Specialized handlebar and saddle to get the same look.
As mentioned, the S-Works Venge Disc Sagan 7x Limited-Edition frameset will cost $7000, and a slice of that money will go to OUTRIDE Foundation, an organisation dedicated to proving that cycling benefits your brain. Through research, cycling programs, and grant-giving activities, OUTRIDE provides evidenced-based cycling interventions to improve social, emotional, and cognitive health,” explains Specialized.
The frames will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis through local Specialized dealers. Rumour has it they’ve already sold out, but if you are interested drop your nearest Spesh dealer a line.
