What happens when your expensive carbon wheels fails? They’re an expensive purchase and it’s nice to know someone has your back in the event they do cause problems. Which is why it’s worth sharing the news that Roval Components is now offering a lifetime warranty on its wheels.
This means lifetime coverage for the original owner and two years of protection to anyone purchasing the wheels second or third hand, or even later.
For US customers it gets even better, as Roval goes one step further and offers a no-fault crash replacement program covering all riding incidents for two years.
“Roval wheels have been engineered to exceed the performance requirements of today’s best riders. Our wheels stand up to top riders including Peter Sagan, Fabio Wibmer and Alison Tetrick, so we’re confident in offering our new Lifetime Warranty and “**it Happens” no-fault crash replacement to everyone aboard Roval wheels,” says Ben Capron of Roval.
You can read more about the Roval warranty here. This follows the recent news that Enve is offering a lifetime crash replacement policy, though it only applies to the original owner.
Is warranty and aftersales support something you consider when purchasing carbon fibre wheels? Or any bike product come to mention it? There has been an explosion of cheap and affordable carbon wheels in the last few years, and not all have lasted that long, which does raise some concerns about who is going to look after you if you have an issue with your pricey purchase.
It does raise the question of what warranty the many other carbon wheel brands offer, so next week we’ll investigate and see how the different wheel brands compare.
Have you any experience with carbon wheel warranty claims? Let us know down below.

I now only use handbuilt wheels . Easy to service and sort out any issues at a low cost, and IMO you don’t get much better wheels for the cost . I’ve had so many expensive wheels and it’s ok company’s saying they give a warranty but in reality they find loopholes and try and screw you over . I had a set of toppling carbon wheels . The carbon hub cracked it cost an absolute fortune to post these wheels back to the states fo repair . If you buy any bike part that’s fails from a shop or reputable dealer soon as it fails they should immediately replace the failed part . But most company’s ask you to send the part back so they can inspect it etc etc in the meantime you can’t ride your bike or have to spend money on the same part again so you can keep riding while you wait for the issue to be sorted. I had a pair of zipp sl bars ( the really expensive light ones ) snap on me ,it took 4 months and persistence harassing to get them replaced . The dealer I bought them off was shit and did fuck all and zipp were a nightmare to deal with . Lucky for me I had spare bars but not everyone is so lucky . I find the smaller companies like ax lightness and thm carbones give great customer service . Nils at ax lightness even fixed a old Orion front brake for me at no cost that I sent him to get his opinion on the failure I did not expect a free repair. Wonderful service .THM as well fantastic .
The big companies in my experience like zipp , campagnolo etc make it very difficult. My friend bought a brand new record derailleur, it failed after a month , and he had to fork out on a new mech while waiting for campagnolo to do a investigating,i.e. waste time string you along and hope you will go away . 6 months before he got supplied with a new mech .
I can understand the smaller companies it may be more difficult to get parts replaced quickly but the big companies who makes a huge world wide profits .....Immediate replacement , No excuses .
Here's a better article on the subject: https://cyclingtips.com/2019/09/roval-debuts-lifetime-warranty-for-all-w...
I would rather buy from a company that offers a lifetime warranty over one that does not. This is one of the main reason. I bought a Cervelo over a Bianchi Both make good bike. But a lifetime warranty is always best
From a skim of the linked pages, the "**it happens" policy applies only to products bought in the US; but there may be a UK equivalent. I note the Roval site is not closed to support climate protests...
Where exactly does it state this? I have just bought some CLX50s too, but the warranty pages and info you quote as far as I can see only relate to the US. Can you clarify what exactly is applicable to the rest of the world.
Well - All that I can say is that after reading the reviews on this site - I just brought a set of Roval CLX50's.
That now seems an even better buy. Thanks guys.
It'd certainly make me willing to justify a slightly higher outlay on a set of wheels if it came with this level of warranty, hopefully this means a few more of the big manufacturers will back their products in the same way.
