Tour de France stage 8: la vie en Vosges

Proper climbs beckon! For me today is a Valver-day. An outside chance of Porte, perhaps, but I couldn't squeeze him in.

What do you all think?

A breaker might have won the day, but the Contador/Nibali crew still put up a lot of points. Hopefully that happens again tomorrow, I'm not really feeling like switching everyone out to roll the dice on MAYBE having one guy get into the break.

Why don't you run that part of the update during the race itself when there's no traffic in the game?...

If it really is the rider updates that make the processs slower, why don't you run that during the race while no one is playing? I don't think rider stats change that much if they're behind one stage... 39

Its the whole process that takes the time, you can't just run different bits at different times as everything is coupled. Updating the rider scores/stats is the needed to update all the league standings and so on and so forth. For the 20 or so minutes it takes to run the update, it wouldn't be worth it to run parts at different times anyway, as the game will ultimately still be unavailable for the same period.

How about a clock that says what time the updating started?... That would be entertaining... 39 Or a countdown clock like the one for the stage deadline, saying 'Updating should be completed in 15 min 33 sec'... Or something that says' Gkam started the updating process abot 15 minutes ago. It won't be long before he finishes. In the meanwhile, click 'here' to see the Skoda Fantasy Cycling scores'... 39 At least I could stare blankly at a screen that says something other than 'We're currently updating the game.'.. It should be soothing... But it isn't... 39

Good day (hopefully) for my Pick Three Frenchmen squad - Chava & Kadri in the break (alas none in my actual or purist squads)

Am I right in thinking this is the first day without a NetApp or Seche guy in the break?

I think contador will try to attack today as he should be able to outclimb his nibs if he's on a good day....

Valver-day. I like that.

I've gone for Purito, Valverde and Kwiato. Purito's a gamble as he's not woken up yet, but if as I suspect he's after the KOM jersey he'll want to start getting on the score sheet. And he's far enough back on GC that no-one will bother chasing him.

Should be an interesting day though... with tomorrow and Monday's stages also in the Vosges, will the GC guys start launching now, or wait until Monday to try and blow out Nibali?

I've kept Sagan in, but only because to take him out would cost me a penalty, therefore requiring at least a 20 point minimum gain for whoever came in in his place, given he may hang in the youth classification & he's bound to pick up some sprint points as well.

Well I've gone all GC for this stage and managed it with only a 10 point penalty so hopefully it will go to plan and I'll grab a decent score 39

Its impossible to predict this one.....The guys cannot keep racing full on everyday, so maybe today will be the day that they let a big break go away...
If not then you could name 50 riders who you could make a case for and Valverde and Porte are certainly in that group...
If its a GC showdown at the end, I personally think that Kwia is made for this finish...
It should be a great finale today though, carrying on what is becoming a fantastic Tour...
