Popular cycling routes around Barcelona...
http://labs.strava.com/heatmap/#9/2.03169/41.49965/yellow/bike
Thanks guys, thats really helpful.
I spend part of the year 1hr inland, past igualada. great quiet country roads from la panadella/cervera towards montblanc and some nice climbing. theres also Prades near Reus for great climbing, and it doesn't usually have snow, and it's 1000m high as massivecompacthalo says check out the strava functions.
also take a vest/gilet, the weather can be quite nippy inland, and does change quickly
Hi, I'm about 1 hr north of Barcelona where it's very hilly and mountainous. But from BCN city there aren't too many climbs, there's one short one up to Tibidabo, a tiny one up Montjuïc, otherwise you've got to get out a little. To the south east there is Rat Penat. Check out the Strava explore segment feature, tho it mixes up MTB and road segments. Also check out routes on Wikiloc. If you jump on a train heading north, within half an hour you hit some nice climbing. Trains aren't expensive and usually the last carriage has a bike storage rack. If you want train seriously hard, come up to me and we'll hit the elevation!
