Fallen Cyclist

British Cyclist Colin Robertson was dragged under and died after a truck pulled an illegal turn. The driver has 10 counts of dangerous driving and speeding to his name and was fined GBP390 for the incident. No jail.
This is justice in Hong Kong. Judge Debbie even blamed him for the poor idea of cycling. It's legal and was on the most popular bike route. The judge blamed him for not wearing fluorescent clothes. He had bike lights.
Colin was an active cyclist, finished fifth in the 1997 British Time Trial Championships and probably one of the best cyclists in Asia.
What would the verdict be in the UK or other parts of the world?

Judge Debbie: "the deceased's unwise decision of cycling on that road ... led to the misfortune."

Stanley Chaing Chi-wai (of a cross-border truckers union): urged the government to ban cycling on certain roads

Makes me sick reading such stupidity from a supposed educated judge!

I can't imagine what his family and friends are feeling.

Make no mistake, this is what is coming to the UK. Once enough reports of cyclist deaths have been in the papers, motorist pressure groups will start trying to ban cycling.

I'd like to say nonsense, however, with recent victim-blaming court cases, it is a big fear.
