+1 for free country, a good laugh
Whilst not entirely fitting your description, Dave Batter's obsessive compulsive cyclist might appeal
I love mountain biking, so that's a definitely.
I'll take a look at the others to.
Marc Beaumont books any good?
Thanks for the help/suggestions
Free Country: A Penniless Adventure the Length of Britain
Hilarious
Tim Moore has written two excellent books on his attempts to re-ride classic Giro and Tour routes on period bicyles.
Loved both of those, definitely my kind of humour with a great cycling adventures thrown in.
He's also currently riding Eurovelo route 13 (i.e. the iron curtain route) in preparation for another book, riding an old east German bike http://www.eurovelo13.com/
He's twitting or tweeting or whatever it is along the way as well

If you don't mind it being mountain biking then 'Two wheels on my Wagon' was enjoyable.*
