Ride London Times etc

Any Ride London people been notified of their start time? The FAQs on the website says everyone was notified by email in June but I didn't receive that.

Also what are peoples experiences of being dropped off by car at the start?

cheers.

A touch bitter perhaps ? Why should anyone feel sorry for you ? I didn't get on either so I am doing it for a charity like many others, it gets you a guaranteed place so anybody who doesn't want to whinge and feel sorry for themselves can do the ride. BTW the bottleneck at Richmond is during the ride, it goes through the park.

Oh poor you having to get up early. Feel sorry for the people who didn't even get a place. I'm sure some of them would have been more than happy to get up at an ungodly hour. You also know you have to register in the days beforehand don't you?
I think the early start time is just to provide entertainment for the locals. I might get up early just to watch the zombies invading Stratford and trying to find the start location from their hotels. The finish will be even more fun watching people try and figure out how to get back to their hotel which was convenient for the start line, but about 10 miles from the Finish line. Nobody ever thinks about that bit though.......

Interesting about Richmond though. A lot of the guys I know that got a place in the ballot live near there as well......maybe its a conspiracy!! I'll use one of them's address next year and see if it helps!!

You can't move times but I am sure you can still start if you miss your wave, nobody is likely to stop you.
I am starting at 6. 06, the only good news is that I won't get caught up in the bottleneck at Richmond Park.
I did it the last two years and drove to a car park from near Watford, getting through London that early on a Sunday is no problem.

Jesus, I have to be at the start by 5.45 latest to start at 6.20 (typo'd or something and put down a 5 hrs estimated start where 7hrs would have been more accurate!). Staying in West London and was going to be getting the train over from Acton Central.

Has anyone ever had success in phoning up and moving times? Otherwise I'm going to have to be on the bike at something like 4am.

I got my email yesterday. 7.36 start time so I have to be there by 7.00 at the latest.

I'm staying in Brentford, with the expectation of riding to Richmond to catch the train, however the times are crap so I'll probably end up booking in the car park.

Anyone know how long it's likely to take me to drive across town at that time of the morning?

Haven't got mine yet, but suspect it will be disgracefully early as I put a rather ambitious time estimate down! In my defense - it was through a charity and I wasn't expecting to be asked timing, let alone to the nearest 9 minutes, so took a guess.

Christ, what estimate did you put for your time? Not that I'm much better with an 0618 start- can't remember how daft I was...

cheeky plug for my sponsorship page- please give generously, it was my only way in (and they're a charity close to my heart airways:

I got my times, wave, and gate info today. 6:30 load, for a 7:30 start then. Could have been worse I suppose.

Great! I'll drive 12 miles to Richmond and get the train. How come everyone has to live in Richmond.

I've now received the email with the details. The train service turns out to be fairly useless, the first train is too late for the loading cut-off and my start time isn't even that early (7:33).

It looks like it's very, very slow as well. How can a train take 65 minutes to cross from Richmond to Stratford, they're only 14 miles apart.

Looks like I'll have a pre-ride warm up ride!

16 miles by rail. Not sure about the "specials" but the normal service has 21 stops in between. A lot of the line is very "wiggly" and it has to change power supply between Acton & Willesden.

Still slow mind!

I have not received the start times email, however the transport bookings page is live - including booking the overground train from Richmond - https://regonline.activeeurope.com/register/login.aspx?eventID=1699604&M...

In cycling to the start from the Waterloo Travelodge. I know a few others who are doing likewise.

In the same position, haven't received anything except the same weekly email yabbering on about nutrition etc.

Has anyone received confirmation?

A special train service was put on last year from Richmond in the early morning, I want to hear if that will be available again.

Assuming someone can drop you off, you can drive to within a few miles of the start from any direction and cycle from there.

This.

I got my soigneur to drop me off on Chobham Road E10 (Leyton area), then you can get onto the park from all directions. Just be aware that you *can't* get off the A12 by the usual junction (on the north side of the park). The A11/A118 Bow Road and Stratford centre are open too.

Final preparation magazines have now been printed and all documentation is being collated in order to be sent this week. That is according to the RL100 twitter feed.

I also second the thought regarding getting to the start by car. It has not been possible the last 2 years and i can't see that changing.

You've no chance of getting to the start by car, better off getting a bus
