local knowledge required Keswick, Cumbria - (Cartmel Racing / traffic) cycling been planned

Anyone local to the Keswick area know how busy the roads are likely to be with Cartmel Races on?

were coming down from Glasgow - and i had originally planned to do the Cumbrian Cracker route Grasmere / Coniston Water etc - but was informed by a friend i run with that it is Cartmel Races this weekend

are we as well leaving the bikes for this weekend and enjoying the hiking or is their routes that are not likely to be overly busy?

thanks in advance

You should not have any problems unless you intend to cycle through Cartmel village. There are plenty of routes on quiet B roads and lanes that bypass Cartmel. I live in Kendal an I have never had a problem when cycling on Cartmel Race days. Also Cartmel is not near Keswick it is 30+ miles south.

appreciated Batchy - we were originally planning to do the Cumbrian Cracker route Grasmere loop. We are based in Keswick though, as it turns out the Racing is not even on - so all good
