During the Tour I listened to an interview (on the Cycling Podcast I think) with MTN's manager who was talking about an idea he'd had for teams to 'loan' staff and riders to each other in the same way as football teams do, to help them gain experience. It might be part of that?
Or maybe he's changed jobs.
