Had a fun day :)

Converting my wife's Lombardo ladies shopping bike into go anywhere bike. My wife isn't a great cycling fan so outings can be short and frustrating if we try anything more than flat roads, especially if the kids up the pace. We had been trying a few trails and she enjoyed the countryside trips

The original bike came with 6 speed freewheel rear, square drive crankset with twist grip shifters. I ordered a Shimano SLX groupset and a pair of new Shimano wheels (on offer)
Converted the bottom bracket to external threaded bearings.

Now she has 20 speed 38/24 crankset, 11-36 cassette, indexed thumb shifters and new qr wheels with cyclocross tyres.

Her first outing around the local roads she absolutely loved it. No more pushing up hills and hopefully more cycling miles 4

Sounds like a fun project, she certainly wont have any issues with the hills now!
My wifes not a particularly keen cyclist either. Perfectly capable bike, but no enthusiasm for it. She can knock out 20-30 miles easily but I think shes more concerned about the lunatic drivers in the New Forest over any lack in ability.

Cheers, I get nearly as much satisfaction in tinkering with mechanical stuff as I do Riding 1
