Wow. Not only do you seem incapable of grasping what the topic of a thread is (hint: it's not "a thread about disc brakes" but one specifically about the release date of a Campagnolo product), but also partial to a bit of ad hominem - my my, aren't you a pleasant fellow?
A thread about disc brakes, receives comments and opinion about disc brakes, but they don't fit in with the OP's views. Sorry about that. Backs up the opinion generally that the contributors on here a bunch of mamil choppers.
Bye.

Yes. It is good to talk. But I'm not at all interested in this thread becoming yet another place for people to vent their dislike for disc brakes. There is very little that is more yawn inducing than having the same old rehashed arguments over and over again. Plenty of threads for that elsewhere.
Thanks for staying on topic.![29](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/29.gif)
Disks in amateur road races no thanks. I've yet to run out of braking power in the UK, the tyre contact area is the limiting factor. Also I have no wish to see this repeated when someone ends up landing on a rotor. The day disks are allowed is the day I retire from bunched racing.

I have wondered before (not knowing much about cycling) what the benefit is of disc brakes, if I can quite easily lock the brakes with current setup then what is a disc brake giving me other than more powerful brakes that I can lock up more quickly? I guess they work better in the wet??
I have Ultegra with hydr discs on my commuter, nothing special and in fact the RS685 right shifter is currently been sent back for a failure on it. I find there is nothing more smooth, reliable and sexy than a Campagnolo groupset, only downside I have found is the expense of replacing consumables
userfriendly - yes, it'll be a levers & calipers upgrade you'll need
we had to stay in between the yellow lines in order to miss the elves![3](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/3.gif)
campag factory.jpg
Excellent.
Oh aye, got the HyRd's here - but am running Spyre SLC's at the moment for weight savings. For mechanical disc brakes they're nae bad. Nae bad at all.
See, if you're on an 11-speed groupset, you can sneakily cheat and use a Shimano cassette (or SRAM). Running two bikes like that at the moment, with Athena and Chorus.
It's probably sacrilege but works just as well. And comparing the price for an Ultegra cassette to even just a Chorus one ...
Also helps with finding wheels.![3](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/3.gif)
So at our last visit to the Campag factory, we saw the prototype disc brake calipers
Nothing is rushed there though - their current timeline is along the lines of testing in 2016, with the view of releasing at Eurobike 2016, then set-ups available late 2016, early 2017

I trust you were told not to step on the elves?
Thanks. That was what I was after even though I was hoping for a much shorter time frame.
Chorus EPS v2 & mechanical brakes it is then. Can always upgrade in a year's time or two.![1](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/1.gif)
Yeah, and so is EPS. I'm not sure I get your point - no offence. I want Campagnolo on my bike, not Shimano. And I want to know when their hydraulic disc brake groupset will be ready.
I can - shifter (and shifting) feel, look of the components, low weight. SRAM isn't bad in the weight department either, but almost uglier than Shimano. Almost.
Anyway ... sad to see Campagnolo losing users over this disc brake delay, but I guess that's to be expected.
Really hoping they will at least hint at a rough timescale soon, for introduction and availability. Otherwise it's going to be EPS v2 & cable discs for me.
I'll admit I've never used Campagnolo gear up front; but I'm not sure how anything can feel "nicer" than Di2. It just works so well, click up, click down. Ease off the pressure for 0.5 seconds while shifting and you can change no matter what gradient you're heading up.
I've heard this line before, I'm just not sure I understand the rationale. The Tiagra on my other bike works great, I'm not sure I'd describe shifting as nice though - but Di2 is on another level to any mechanical shift I've ever used.
I currently run centaur with trp hy/rd brakes, fantastic combination and much improved over the the bb5s they replaced. I know it's not the same as a full setup however it'll bridge the gap until the official releases.![1](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/1.gif)
Challenge was finding a disc wheelset that took campag cassettes without resorting to custom builds!
I got sick of waiting and bought Ui2/hydro for my new bike.
Campag peaked with the first iteration of 11-speed Athena - a lovely, polished alloy groupset with all the bells and whistles you get on Super Record. Then they took away multiple upshifts and made the chainset difficult to spanner. It pains me to say it, but I can't think of a rational reason to bolt a Campag groupset on in 2015.
Well, we know they are working on it, and they will release it at some point. And it's Campagnolo, of course they're going to do it right.
That's precisely what's annoying me - this isn't even a question of "if" or "how". What's the harm in being a bit more open about the when? I don't even care about the price, all I want to know is when.![2](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/2.gif)
Yes, just like Ultra torque.
Used nothing but Campagnolo from first road bike in early nineties until c.2008 when I swore off it, having reached the same conclusion as srchar.
Wander into any bike retailer next spring and watch the boat leave the pier. If Campag aren't on board the good ship Road Disc Brake by then (and the timeline above suggests that they won't be) then all they will be able to do is watch and wave customers good bye.
They need to do it, and do it right, and do it quickly or Campag will become the provider of retro old men groupsets and fade from prominence rather quickly.
An expert speaks.
I'm sorry to hear that.![2](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/2.gif)
I really wish they weren't so much like Apple in this regard. C'mon, enough with the secrecy already!
i went one step worse and bought hydro di2 ...![2](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/2.gif)
