Grub seals

Does anyone know where to buy those wee rubber grub seals that come with some cable sets? Needing quite a few of those and don't feel like shelling out £40 for an entire cable set just to get two of them. 7 I've googled but couldn't seem to find a shop that sells them separately.

I'm afraid I've googled using all kinds of possible descriptions. You're correct, one end will fit an inner cable, but on the other end there is quite a bit of difference in width between a liner and a ferrule. Won't work for what these "grub seals" are for, even if I weren't fussy about the overall diameter of the things.

Meanwhile I've blagged two of them from a Jagwire Elite Links kit that I hadn't yet used, but even Jagwire don't seem to sell them as spares on their own. Shimano do, I might order a few of those and see if they work just as well.

Have a look at Heat Shrink tubing, might be available from Halfords or other motor stores. I don't know if it will work, but is worth a try.

If it works here...

Thanks 1 Seen those, sadly they're too big. They go on V-brake noodles and are much beefier than those Gore seals up there.

I kept looking but so far the closest thing I could find were from Shimano and Jagwire, although not ribbed like the Gore ones. Might try them and see if they're as good.

Sucks that Gore dropped their cable business. 2

Are you sure they are too big? Yes they are meant to go with a v brake noodle, but the exit point of the rubber boot is for the inner cable which is the same for road and mtb. The other end of the boot fits onto the noodle which from memory is very close if not the same as the outer cable.

Also as stated above the I believe the technical term for the thing you are looking for is a rubber boot rather than seal. Try googling that instead
