Bespoke bike question

A question for anyone who's had a bespoke bicycle made for them - what length of time did you have to wait between placing your order and delivery of your bike? Due to various hiccups I'm on almost 5 months so far. Are we now well into taking the piss territory?

If you're new please join in and if you have questions pop them below and the forum regulars will answer as best we can.

Sounds about right – I had a Mercian made two years ago and it took over six months – frustrating waiting but made it even more special when it was ready.

In society that craves things instantly it's sometimes good to wait for the best things in life.

I agree with crikey. Didn't you get a contract with estimated delivery time. Ring up anonymously and ask about a new build with delivery times. If it's much less than your build , decide whether to cancel.

Standard frames can be made/adjusted to suit just about anybody

Yes, you are.
There are few advantages to buying a custom bike, as evidenced by the way they make such bikes with adjustable seat pins and stems.

Have a word and tell him or her to get a move on.

Depends on who with, sometimes it may be a week or two, I know of certain sought after frame builders with a 2 year+ wait list.
Also if there is a large amount of complexity that would increase time...
