Wow, I wish I'd read this post a couple of weeks ago... I noticed the burn mark on the inside of my front fork and thought it must have been from when my wheel wasn't seated properly. But now I realise that I've experienced the same issue, in that the front wheel must have been deflecting when I was cornering. It all makes sense as I'm one of those "unable to ride with any rubs or mechanical noises" kind of guys, so this helped me realise it was a design fault rather than anything else.
A couple of weeks ago I replaced my front fork with a Scott original but I've been running 23s so it seems that the issue can happen with them too. The clearance is crazy tight around the wheels and I've been rapidly falling out of love with this Scott Speedster 20 as my winter bike.
So I'm going to replace it with a completely different brand. Back to Trek or Cannondale I think. Terrible that Scott wouldn't admit fault and do a product recall. I don't like to imagine a face-plant due to a snapped fork!.. I've upgraded my wheels which should hopefully minimise the issue (the original Syncros were a disaster for me - bearings failing and decals peeling off from the off).

I had a similar problem on my Sunday steed, only on the rear where the wheel meets the bb area, nowadays on carbon frames they like to keep things as tight as possible with minimal clearance. I've just been extra careful setting my bike up, so its just taken a little paint away. I'd be reluctant to ride those forks in the picture much longer, I'd take it back to where I bought it and explain the problem in depth. Their bike mechanic will be more empathetic than Scotts customer service.
I'm running an XL Speedster 30 frame that I got second hand and built up with Tiagra 4700. I'm running 23mm tyres on R500s and haven't had any problems. A few friends have complained that they've tried the R500/501 and found them a bit flexible, but mine are still pretty good and true. The fork is very tight if you fit mudgurads though (which is why I'm running 23mm tyres...)
Thought I'd check mine as it's next to me on the turbo... No problems here, and it's the tiny ladies one (speedster 15 with 25c's on, some time with stock wheels and some time with upgrades) but I think mine was 2013. Sounds like a bit of bad luck from a slightly different design?
It just doesn't quite cope with the 25c tyres. Had a similar issue with my wife's bike when we put 25c on, and had to revert to 23 (which were the stock tyres it came with).
And then we bought a different bike.
