You can always add a speed sensor to the 25 if you're having problems
Thanks all, great feedback.
I will have a trwl thru and see what happens!
The Edge looks like it mat display what Id like. Is readable fonts.
The down side is my popular cycle run has about 3/4 mile on a tarmac path adjacent to a river and is lined with mature trees - forming a tunnel.
Will the GPS work under trees in leaf?
Second hand Garmin edge 25 - there are loads on ebay going or between £45 to £55..

I was going to say an Edge 25, I have one myself and it does everything I need up to and including HRM, speed, cadence and bluetooth.
If you don't need/want all the extra stuff the Garmin Edge 20 loses those features but comes at a lower price - worth checking ebay/gumtree.
Hi there Old'n'Tired,
You don't specify what (for you) is a decent sized font, but CatEye do some non-GPS computers that seem to fit your requirements - take a look at the link shared by ConcordeCX at the CatEye Velo range.
If you want GPS as well, then you are probably looking at twice your budget. The Garmin Edge 20 or Edge 25 can be picked up for around £80. They both let you configure what is displayed and with only 2 metrics shown the font is big and clear (IMO, Edge 25 owner).
This appears to have Av speed/time displayed

or a GPS type https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/iGPSPORT-iGS20E-GPS-Bike-Computer-UK-WARRANTY...
It is worth noting that the GPS type one mentioned above can only record metric. So if you want Miles travelled or mph you may find it a little frustrating.
Looks to be a great unit other than that
Funny but the IGSport computers (non GPS) support MPH. Very odd.
Have a look at the Bryton range, they can be customised to have different parameters on display and multiple pages if you want more, mine is set up to show speed, distance and ride time on page 1 and average speed and time of day on page 2.
