It's official, all remaining Spring Classics have been cancelled or postponed.
Next 3 WT classics in Belgium all cancelled. All events in Flanders cancelled until the end of March. Ronde and Dwars Door still okay for now.
Strade Bianche cancelled....grrrr....back to gardening.
Exactly! And the weather forecast was for a proper filthy day as well...... I suppose we are going to have to get used to it.
hahahahah
Mitchelton have withdrawn from a whole raft of races now....one day and stage..
https://www.greenedgecycling.com/news/mitchelton-scott-position-regardin...
Jumbo Visma withdraw from Strade Bianche....mmmm...
It's not looking good folks https://twitter.com/laflammerouge16/status/1234925523924635649?ref_src=t...
Also EF have requested they pull out of all Italian upcoming races..
Strade race announced as still going ahead a couple of days ago...folllowed by a big jump in Coronavirus numbers in Italy today....
Going to go down to the wire this is.
Took the risk of bringing sprinters in despite the wind. Just about got away with it.
Stuyven must be in really good shape..I looked last night at how many riders, historically, do well back to back with the Omloop and KBK races....it's not many and he's in the best of company for those that do manage it. Good stuff....keep eating the pies.
*note..I didn't actually pick him...again.
Nervous watch when you have picked Asgreen.
I did play the Stuyven çard for Sunday.
Nice. I was going to pick him over Stybar on Saturday after reading Stybar's interview where he said he couldn't stand such high winds...but then somehow didn't do it.
Stuyven was then then one I was looking at when seeing how many riders had done good back to back rides over the years, and the answer was not many...so I still didn't do it....but I will next time he's on.
Your group of sprinters still worked out better.
Yeah, got on a couple of decent ones. Very hard to predict who will be there at the end in that weather, in fact impossible...just hit and hope.
Well, I've started the season with a total washout. Wrong rider chosen from pretty much every team. Shocker.
Anyone else getting this massive advert?
Bloody hell that's so obnoxious...
Apologies to anyone seeing this in desktop - posted from my mobile and ugh, it's even worse on the big screen.
Mmmm....It looked ok last night but not sure about my team now for the Omloop lottery showdown.
WVA
GVA
Naesen
Stybar
Valgren
Doull
Vanmarcke
(Merlier)
Not sure why I went with Stybar after he said he doesn’t fancy the weather, I thought i’d swapped him for Stuyven. Also....I didn’t fancy any 3.0’s so just stuck Merlier in ready for KBK on Monday.
Note to self....stop picking teams on wine.
Can I have some of that wine?
Looks brutal out there. Could have been mix and matching all night for a team but in the end the weather and echelons will decide this. Some great picks will end up in the wrong group.
KBK is tomorrow
Crikey...thanks. Where the hell did I get Monday from.
Could we please have a little update on the database, a few team codes don't match up with the UCI, so when searching for say an Alpecin rider, your code is COC, but they are AFC now
Sure, I matched up teams with what was in PCS when doing transfers. I'll edit after KBK because Dave will need to update the jerseys to match new codes. That's something I can't do, but I'll change the codes.
Nice one, thanks. I didn't go checking all teams, just noticed it for Alpecin.
Still going with some filthy weather specialists. Dithering on Pedersen at the moment. He proved in Yorkshire last year that he can do filthy weather....but Belgium in Feb may not be quite as bad as Yorkshire in August.
Oh my days....
WVA at 31.6
MVDP at 9.3
Crikey....funny how these things go sometimes.
Difference of being on a WT team and racking up a hat full of points in the classics, Dauphine, and the Tour, and being (old) PCT and riding less than 5 races total.
On second thought, maybe MVDP should have been more expensive.
Nah. He’ll be 37.0 for the next ten years...give us this one season of joy...
