Adey,
Think youll be just fine. Just did a 72 miler on Saturday, riding the same bike. I`d only ever done 30 miles twice before and that was back in April. I enjoyed the ride right up until about the 65 mile point, that was when i hit the wall ,died on my bike..made it though just. Make sure you keep eating, about the only advice i could give. a couple more bars or gels and i dont think i would have suffered so much. But loved it, a great sense of achievement.
Good luck with it. And remember to enjoy yourself!
Thanks for the replys - will let you know how it goes
Sure it'll be a challenge, it's a long way, but it'll be an enjoyable challenge. Try to drink & eat enough during & after the ride. Becoming dehydrated & losing all energy does put a damper on a good day out. Enjoy!
If you can do 30 milers for fun then you should have no problem completing a 72 mile ride when it counts. I recently rode an 110km Audax with a friend who was fit but had never done more than 25km at a stretch before. He suffered a bit in the middle section but got his second wind after about 80km, and he was fine.
Cheers Martin - you more or less answered what i thought, thing is...... its 72 miles in one hit rather than 3 - 30 milers over 7 days - i want to do well and finish in a respectable time!! one + point the Bainchi i think is awesome!!
so hopefully the miles may SEEM a little easier
I'd say so, yes. I suppose it depends a bit on how often you manage three 30-milers in a week compared to two - and how knackered you are when you're done - but either way you should be fine. Bit late to worry about it now in any case![1](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/1.gif)
