how do I do that? Is it adding salt tablets to my drinks and experimenting with different amounts to see what works?![39](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/39.gif)
Cramps - get salts right and get out of the saddle from time to time. That works for me, anyway.
Of course, getting your salts right is easier said than done.
thanks for the feedback. In general i'm using SIS Hydrate as my electrolyte supplement in my drinks and aim for about 750ml per hour (more when its hotter) when i'm training or 'sportiveing'. I do plenty of training at long distances but as I live in Essex its a bit harder going to find decent hill climbing territory.![4](https://cdn.road.cc/sites/all/modules/contrib/smiley/packs/smilies/4.gif)
Interestingly the website from Gkam84 mentions Quinine as a prevemntative treatment.
A few G&Ts before the next sportive methinks
Could be a whole raft of things causing it, I get cramps in and around my left knee because of old injuries, have a look at this site and see if you can pin point anything

could it be too much electrolyte and not enough plain old water (how much are you using?). also cramps can sometimes just happen when you body is just not used to the distance/amount of climbing etc and its a case of just increasing dist/speed/climbing etc during 'training' i spose.
personally i used to get it more when i was using an electroylte ('nuun' tablets) as opposed to not using them, now i just use one energy drink (500ml) and a bottle of water.
