Another option - felt f85 (microshift shifters, 105 the rest) around £850.
+1 on the Synapse 105.
But for all, carbon Boardmans team carbon fi 2010/11 is a bargain.
I could not be happier with the Planet X SL Pro I picked up about 6 months ago - they were doing a mix of SRAM red/rival for £999. A heavier rider in my club had a few problems with a flexible front end, but it feels stiff enough to me. I think they have a store in London now too.
The cannondale synapse 105 was reviewed well in cycling active earlier in the year
