hhmmm mine's 40 miles .... but it's all motorway
so biking could be a "little" tricky !
It's a paultry 3 miles to work, but I am supposed to have my car with me (company car). We have no washing facilities, and I have to go home every lunchtime to let the dogs out, so that all adds up to a difficult day, and by the afternoon, I have had 3 x 3mile sprints in the same unsuitable clothes, so not that pleasant to be around.
I am hoping to make a radical career change, and get into the bike industry, so that will all change, no one cares about sweaty bike mechanics.
I managed to beat a car that left my village at the same time as me this morning; I start off with a 1/2 mile climb of about 10% straight out of the door, but once on the main road I was flying. I drafted a car for about a mile at over 30mph, until she turned off, and managed to bridge to a van, which I stayed with for another 1/2 mile or so, finally turning off into my road to see the car that overtook me on the hill out of my house, going past about 4 cars back from me...
Next time your up Streatley way, give me a shout. I have started doing my hill repeats on Streatley Hill, that is fairly painful. Last time was 7 x with only the time it takes to get back down to rest!
anyone else going car-free? that doesn't normally?
how far is it to work? knowing you you'll turn it into a metric century or something.
talking of metric centuries i was down your way on sunday visiting my brother-in-law near goring. streatley hill is fun! couldn't quite hit 50 though
