Prescription cycling glasses

I have some Reactions lenses in generic Nike sportyish sunglasses with a mild wrap around, all bought from my local opto. Reactions are good but don't expect full sunglass effect, simply less eyestrain.

The optilabs own brand glasses don't look as stylish as many of todays glasses - they will fit lenses to any glasses you want though, generally on the proviso that the lenses aren't too curved - fat lenses in a curved frame don't tend to stay in place too good.

Rudy Rydons for me, with insert. Like having interchangeable lenses. Plus all bits are replaceable (as long as you are patient and persistent)

Never found them to slip when sweaty, bit heavy with the insert but then I pinched a few quid by not having the superduper light thin lenses.

Fogging - try Muc Off Anti Fog, an application lasts a week and works fantastically well!

I have the Adidas Adivista sunglasses with the LST Vario lenses that are photochromic.

I really like them, the adjustable rake on the arms and nose pads makes them very comfortable.

I also have some Rudy Project Rydon with the Impact X photo lenses, they are very nice, but don't stay in place as well as the Adidas, especially when hot and sweaty.

I don't get on with Oakleys at all, the half jackets I had have never been comfortable, and always ended up in my jersey pocket, whereas, I never take the Adivistas off when on the bike.

i've had two sets of lenses from the brilliant Optilabs in Croydon (www.optilabs.com)

they have their own sports frames or they can do lenses for your frame (in fact they are the only place i've found that could do my blind-man lenses in my wrapped oakleys).

plus they have genuinely the best customer service i have ever encountered - really good people. can't recommend highly enough.

Bolle and Zeal optics both offer good RX options.

washing up liquid on the lenses will stop or drastically reduce the "fogging" issue

Only problem with Adidas is the RX insert fogs up in cold weather. If you're going to ride all winter I reckon proper glazed specs are the only way.

Rudy Project do quite a wide range of rx sunglasses - a cheaper option is to go for the inserts though admittedly they are not ideal.

if you fancy a particular pair of frames then a good optician should be able to match and fit a set of prescription lenses for you - i've done this a couple of times. not cheap though!

I think the new jawbones come with 'reactions' lenses if you want them and being Oakley I expect they will be prescription-able.
