Car crashes into building - please post your Local news stories

Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes...

I just don't remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it's irresponsible.

'A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

"It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment." '

Car smashes into wall forcing road in Bristol to be closed

https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/car-smashes-wall-forcing...

Quote:

A car crashed into a wall on a Bristol road on Monday (December 20), causing "significant damage".

Police, fire, and the ambulance service were called to Shaldon Road in Ashley Down at around 11:20am to a report of a single vehicle in which a car hit a wall, and the road was closed while the crash was dealt with.

A woman involved had "self-rescued" from the car before emergency services arrived, and she is not thought to have suffered any injuries.

So - "woman involved", not "the driver"?  Clearly the car escaped, took a woman hostage, and then drove itself into a wall...

Not sure how the off-side damage occurred if it was the front near side corner that biffed the shop window. 🧑🏻‍🦳 menace strikes again.

The scene in The Detectorists where the mayor asks the club in help finding his chain came to mind when I saw the picture of him in his getup.

To knock both cars 50meters up the road does seem like he saw it pretty much last minute. So how long is "momentary"?

Just came across this. I was impressed with this nugget of local journalism:

"I would have guessed it was coming down the hill and slid and rolled under the trees", the eyewitness said of the Volkswagen van.

(I was under the impression that eye witnesses would be able to describe what they actually saw).

He's on fire! It doesn't even take any effort though - some years back I've seen a car parked at the end of a steep street slip its handbrake and roll down to the bottom - that was three other cars and the house that it ended up in at the bottom. Nobody hurt remarkably.

How come everyone's overlooked this case of someone crashing a car into the most famous building in the country?

That sort of thing is bound to happen when the driver thinks the rules of the road don't apply to him and he doesn't pay enough attention to the job at hand.

Oh no! You made me visit The Sun, now I'm sucked into "TRUE BETRAYAL My boyfriend secretly took pictures of me naked while I slept – I found over 30 photos & got him slapped with jail term"

we must all now think about how Dale must have felt when Lucy found the pictures on his 'phone.

With Omicron around, it shows just how dangerous an accident like this can be - clearly a super-spreader event:

As I view the Hunts Post page with this story, two of the four "Don't Miss" side stories are of people dying in crashes.
The horse and rider story doesn't quite add up - there seems to have been an impact, but the consequences are - thankfully - minor.
If a car has had an impact at above say 3 mph, why doesn't it automatically shut itself down for 5-10 minutes? It's very clear that drivers can't be relied on to stop any more.

These parked cars should be required to carry lights at night! It's madness, they're totally invisible...

It sort of seems odd to "like" that so consider that a nod.

Maybe that damage was already there from a previous "incident"?
