Car crashes into building - please post your Local news stories

Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes...

I just don't remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it's irresponsible.

'A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

"It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment." '

In short, it doesn't.

The long verson is the perpetrator was an alcoholic who was (reportedly) planning on taking part in a charity triathlon to raise funds for the rehab centre he had been going to, although he had relapsed prior to the attack. So the triathlon aspect has no direct relevance, but is loosely related to his alcoholism, which itself was no doubt related to the attack. A pretty tenuous connection given the man is characterised as a "triathlete" in the headline - "alcoholic" would seem to be a more pertinent description but would presumably have generated fewer clicks...

(If you google the story then use google's cached version you can bypass the pay wall - try https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:xnPO9RUQ1SUJ:https...).

Jail for starving man with strong stomach who chomped off stranger's ear in Dundee pub

My money would be on "Jail for cyclist...", especially if it was "keen cyclist".

Can't decide headline-wise if it's the cycling element of triathlon, or the idea of an 'althlete': the latter would put "judo enthusiast" as front runner in your case.

Found guilty and given 34 months jail - a whole lot more than drivers get for deadly road violence.

Driver arrested in Northfleet after BMW crashes into Ye Olde Coach and Horses pub

....taken into custody on suspicion of four offences – failing to stop following a road traffic collision, driving whilst being unfit through drink and drugs and driving without insurance.

"no sale" as regards hitting an actual building - but, you know, "cyclists should be made to have insurance", etc

Cars being a pain in the arse, involved in nuisance crimes, taking up police time

https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/19833948.police-seize-audi-no-mot-brans...

A spokesperson said: “Uninsured Audi with no MOT, car tax or current keeper, with rear passenger door broken and held partially shut with bungee cord seized in Bransgore. “After being found blocking dropped kerb preventing access to driveway needed by disabled visitor. “Spare catapult slingshots and bags of ball bearings found on passenger seat with evidence of recent off-road use and hare coursing.

https://www.salisburyjournal.co.uk/news/19833826.mod-deals-driving-rural...

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has confirmed that between April 1 and December 31, 2021, its team at HQ Salisbury Plain Training Area seized 29 vehicles and issued 206 fines for driving offences.

https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/19821875.police-called-huge-car-meet-mo...
https://www.romseyadvertiser.co.uk/news/19834077.police-set-resources-un...

Police later confirmed that around 150 vehicles attended.

Locals say they had to put up with the sound of revving engines and honking horns, plus a “haze of smoke” drifting over the neighbourhood.

Finally, one of three fly tipping pictures from today's walk - this is a byway, and the amount of general crap lying around is always greater where so-called off-roaders are allowed.

Tractors cause traffic on Winchester Road in Romsey (bridge strike)

"The drivers had been on their way to West Sussex from Bere Regis – a 90 mile trip."

That seems an awfully long way for farm vehicles to go?

Not our first visit to these bridges in Romsey.

This is all so sad. On the way to work yesterday saw that a car had gone straight on at a (mini) roundabout into the living room of some people I know. I can't imagine how it will take for their house to be livable again. This was Wimborne, Dorset

And from the national press, here we have a young chap popping in for a cheeky Maccy Ds. As you do.

Credit where credit's due, they do give pride of place in the reporting to the driver rather than the car:
