Found frame in my dads shed after him passing

Hi my dad recently passed and while clearing his shed I found 2 eddies merkx bike frames and forks stil in the original box/wrapping just looking for abit of guidance on year-how much it's worth any any particular place to sell  I was advised from a local bike shop that this site may be able to help

Condolences for the loss of your father. That's an Eddy Merckx EMX5 frameset, I would guess from the paint job about 2009. I'm no expert in valuations but they were about £1800 new then I think, if completely unused I'd say you could get about £450-£650 now. Good luck!

I had one of these years ago, emx 5 was just under the top tier emx 7. This was a pro tour frame, used by boonen from what I remember along with the 7

There is a Facebook group that specialises in local bike jumble sales worth checking for dates and places. Most likely EBay otherwise.

This famous racer's name was licensed for use by mass market makers decades ago - a photo would help confirm whether the frames are anything special.

Hi thanks for the reply and advice.   I've uploaded a photo for reference I was trying to before hand but couldn't work out how to do so I think I've managed to do it. Me and technology aren't best friends 🤣

Yeah, you can't seem to add a photo to a new post, only by replying. Looks like you've got a headset kit and a seatpost too that hopefully are a fit for this frame.

You can, but it's more involved than using the browse/upload functionality when replying.

First, host the photo somewhere on teh interwebs (e.g. Imgur.com), then get the address of the uploaded photo (e.g. https://i.imgur.com/HBKd5Ja.jpeg). Next, to make it into a BBCode/Forum link, you put "img" tags around it (the tags are enclosed in square brackets with the terminating tag being "/img").

e.g.

//i.imgur.com/HBKd5Ja.jpeg)

And just like that…
