I might as well have left them in!
Missed the deadline for E3. Seems I will be finishing nearer last than first in this Spring Classic comp. Always have loved these races, but never seem to do any good in them. Maybe next year.
Did mine after a couple of glasses of red last night. Not sure how I managed to not bring in GVA and Stuyven. Stupid.
I now have a rule of no transfers after opening the red! Made sure I was up early this morning then discovered we had been granted an extra hour......crazy how the game affects you!
I shall follow your rule in future. I waited late because the game wasn't updated and didn't want any nasty surprises. I got one anyway....on what planet are Matthews and Vanmarcke a safer pick than GVA and Stuyven on a course like E3....Ha....Gonna need a good dose of jam today to get away with that.
You never know, sometimes doing nothing is the better option even if it is by accident. I am doing terribly without missing any deadlines!
Wouldn't of made that much difference. The three I wanted to bring in were MVDP. SKA, and Kung.
I had all three of them & they all underachieved in their own way.One dayers seem to go like that - team looks rock solid on paper & then the race destroys it!
What always messes me up in these Spring races is the quandary that is Deceuninck-Quick Step.
Definitely - I didn't pick a DQS rider because of their multiple options - It's easier when Alaphilippe rides as he is normally top dog (but even he took a team role in Omloop) Would have gone Stybar purely on price if I had picked one. Three in top five is pretty special though
Wonderful start to E3, put in Nils Politt as a bit of a dark horse, Bora not starting due to + COVID test...
Oh hell. I was going to pick him as well before my wine induced brain freeze. Quite a nice outside bet really. Unlucky.
Any chance of a Saxo Bank startlist? Apols for multiple threads but be nice to have some more available riders to cheer on tomorrow
Dunno what's going on...but....If you go on transfers page and tick the box to show all riders then you can pick from that. The prices remain the same for the duration of the one day races.
Thanks Doc. I wasn't aware of that!
As a caution. I've not seen him miss a deadline before, so he might have something he's waiting for...or nodded off.
Done now! Was slightly pre-occupied.
Hi Andy...are you sure about Cees Bol?
Seems he missed an 'untick'
I'm not good at translating but told this confirms Paris Roubaix is off. https://www.leparisien.fr/sports/cyclisme/paris-roubaix-reporte-lepreuve...
I think you've understood it well enough. "It's becoming a certainty. Paris-Roubaix will not take place on 11 April."
I saw that this morning when a few cycling sites posted it, but it now seems less clear cut. L'Equipe is saying a final decision has been deferred until next week while further discussions take place..... who knows?
UCI has now confirmed that Paris-Roubaix is postponed until 3rd October
How many races are now postponed. Is it officially two or one and one expected?..or something else..?
Of races in the game, Paris-Roubaix and Eschborn-Frankfurt have both been officially moved to the autumn now. The races in Benelux countries don't seem to be under any threat so hopefully the rest will go ahead......but we can't be sure.
Just some general comments;
Dr Winston, I notice we pretty much pick the same riders; could be a problem for me later in the year.
11waterloo, triccky 100 & Condor Andy; how about you join the "Forum Scorum" league. It makes it easier to keep track of what the forum guys are doing. It was started many years ago by TER as a separate comp, but got to be too much work and morphed into a simple league.
11waterloo, I tend to agree with your comments of 2 weeks ago about 1 day races. I enjoy planning the transfers of stage races. 1 day races are a quick pick; having said that, I do reasonably well at them.
Just coincidental Tony. Out of interest, did you have a dither on anything for today.
Mine was Aranburu, Laporte and Vendrame or Matthews, Laporte and Mohoric.
My initial thought was Schachmann, never Bennett or Ballerini, but then Matthews has been in good shape and came 3rd last year. Mohoric has been in top 10 two years in a row. Laporte is in top form, cheap and in next race. Couldn't find a decent cheapie, so I left Sivakov in. So no dithering.
Exactly the same as my thoughts. I dismissed Schachmann, after thinking about him, because he just felt a bit short on a flat finish. I went on previous finishes in the end for Matthews and Mohoric and form for Laporte. I thought both of Laporte and Vendrame, had I got him, would have done better. I keep Meeus as my 3.0 but he's an easy swap for an obvious 3.0 in the next one.
I notice a lot of players drop the 3.0 enabler in the one day races in favour of a full squad.
Good idea, have just joined (I think - though my name not up there yet)
