Muc-Off has this week confirmed it will be partnering with Team Sky in 2014 as Official Supplier of Bike Care Products. The company will supply its extensive range of cleaning and bike care products, as well as developing new products for the team
It’s a big first step into the pro peloton for the Dorset-based company and is far and away its highest profile sponsorship deal to date, having previously worked with Rapha-Condor JLT and Wiggle-Honda Pro Cycling. And like Rapha, is another British brand added to Team Sky’s list of sponsors. The company is synonymous for the pink bike cleaner that it first launched back in 1994, but it has since expanded its range of products to cover every aspect of bike cleaning and maintenance. It has also started to develop a line of off-the-bike care products like Dry Shower and Shower Scrub.
Alex Trimnell, MD of Muc-Off commented: “We are thrilled to be working with Team Sky for 2014. As a business which thrives on research, development and innovation we have found a perfect fit with Team Sky. To work with a team that is willing to invest so much time and energy into developing new technologies is very exciting, innovation is truly at the core of every part of their operation, I personally find this fascinating to be a part of and no doubt there are some real performance gains to be found together.”
The partnership will see the company working closely with the team and we expect to see the evolution of existing products and possible development of new products. “Keeping our equipment clean and well maintained is an integral part of bike racing and, as with all of our suppliers, we will work closely with them to help develop their range in the future,” added Team Sky’s Head of Technical Operations, Carsten Jeppesen.
It has been revealed the Muc-Off research and development team have been busy working on a new C4 wax treatment for the team ahead of the first race of the season, which it claims will “increase efficiency and save precious watts.” It’s all about marginal gains remember.
The video shows some of the Muc-Off products being used. Incidentally, we've tested some of the company's latest products this year, and the Muc-Off C3 Ceramic Lube Wet and Muc-Off C3 Dry Ceramic Lube both impressed our testers.

I quite like Muc Off. I just don't like the way there is none at the end of my Sportives. If they kept some back for the 100 milers it would be great.
Muc Off products are poor in my opinion. I've used 'Muc Off', 'Bike Wash, and their degreaser in a can which was good value but shot up in price last year. I'm now back to using Finishline products and will never change. Nothing like Maguires suds (use for the car) with elbow grease for a bike wash.
Is it just me or is the current cycle industry overly festooned with video releases? A video produced to tell us that Sky are now using a particular product seems to take the biscuit.
Whilst i think Muc off is a great product, and congratulate them on signing a deal with Sky, why does there need to be a news article to announce it, let along a seemingly well edited promotional video? What do all the other teams use to wash their bikes - Fairy liquid?
Fairy Liquid diluted in warm water, followed by a quick hose-off, would probably do just as good a job as Muc-Off in cleaning your bike.
Not really sure why a 'specially formulated' basic detergent for bikes needs to cost 10x more than a 'specially formulated' basic detergent for dishes. If you used Fairy Liquid you could even eat your dinner off your bike afterwards.
Fairy Liquid like most washing up liquids is very high in salt content so not a good idea.
Thats their prices rocketing then
I hear the next step is to make French mud and rainwater the official partner responsible for dirtying the Team Sky PInarello's in the first place
