Koga set to launch Solacio disc road bike

Disc brakes are increasingly sweeping through the road cycling industry and the latest company to add a disc-equipped model is Koga. The Dutch company has just unveiled the new Solacio with disc brakes. They'll be properly launching it at Eurobike next week.

The Solacio is Koga’s endurance/sportive designated model. They describe it as a “modern endurance racer.” The frame has been updated to cater for disc brakes, and uses Shimano’s new flat mount standard on the fork and chainstays. This is a mount for the disc caliper that promises improved integration and cleaner aesthetics.

Along with the discs the Solacio frame features a tapered head tube, press-fit bottom bracket and carbon fibre dropouts, so it’s stiff and light. All cables are routed internally and we can’t tell from the photo if the hydraulic hoses are also routed internally, we’ll know for sure when we get up close and personal with it next week in Germany. The frame also uses a 27.2mm seatpost, inline with most other endurance bikes, to provide a bit of deflection.

So far Koga has only revealed details of one model, built around Shimano’s Ultegra mechanical groupset with hydraulic disc brakes, with Mavic Aksium Disc wheels and 25mm Vredestein Fortezza Duo Comp. They don’t have a UK price at the moment, but in euros it’s set to cost €2,799.
