Do the whole bike for $8.
Were do you start on this one. Pricing, current Wiggle prices are:
3t Arx stem £169.19 weight 118 grams
Deda Zero 100 £35.99 weight 126 grams
Deda Superleggero £72.99 weight 99 grams
Obvisously Dave Arthur would buy the 3t stem as he just agrees with any supplier that gives Road CC free kit to try and is always first to post comment defending rip off pricing.
Secondly which shop is going to stock 3T bars and stems and pricing or for that fact can the import justify the large amount of cash to hold all sizes and colours. You would need at least bars in 40cm, 42cm and 44cm, stem of 10, 12, 13 and 14cm time all 6 colour variations. So that is 40 variations at £300 plus per bar and stem set at retail prices. Good luck to the 3t rep that can sell that to your local bike shop.
Maybe David Arthur might like to give his local bike shop £12,000 of his own money so they can stock these hidious looking over price bars and stems

David appeared to be saying that although you could spend a shit-load on top-of-the-line stuff - could, not should - the more bottom-of-the-line stuff is cracking stuff compared to what it used to be. He didn't appear to be endorsing this stuff, closer to the opposite. He certainly didn't defend the rip-off pricing, merely pointed out that stupidly expensive stuff doesn't stop there being lots of really good stuff at the bargain basement end.
Which begs the question - what the fuck are you on about ?
Relax.
The article links to 3T's website for purchasing.
I don't want glow in the dark bar tape but i would like comfortable bar tape ideally in loads of different colours which is also reflective. I have a Rapha backpack that has reflective sides and bottom made from what appear to be little beads. Its pretty effective. Oooohhh, RAPHA REFLECTIVE BAR TAPE!
Why not just make glow in the dark bar tape?

save yourself 286 pounds.
Works great.

Forget the glow in your garage coating for a minute, who buys components at those prices?
Unfortunately enough people for 3T and their peers to produce parts at this price point. What angers me about this, is that this ultra premium price point over time will bump the market entry point up, making the sport more expensive for all.
Rant over....
Not sure what I think about the glow in the dark stuff... not being funny, the bike I ride in the dark is generally not the bike I put the best components on.
Well, no, that isn't the case. Yes, it's possible to spend a serious shedload of cash on the top-end products, but at the other end of the price spectrum the quality of kit is amazing compared to even just 10 years ago
There's room in the market for all manner of technologies/marketing claptrap at a wide range of prices. If anything, the price of good kit has fallen over the years. And what is introduced at the top end one year, eventually trickles down. A lot of the comments here on prices just sound like sour grapes to me.
And, no, I don't desire a bloody glow-in-the-dark cockpit.
Won't most of the glow-in-the-dark finish be covered by bar tape?
Seriously?!
If I'm going to spend £300 on a set of handlebars, I'd prefer them not to look incredibly tacky.
If I'm going to spend £300 on a set of handlebars, I'd prefer someone to slap some sense in to me.
