BAFTA nomination for Yorkshire Grand Depart coverage

Production company behind Stage 1 TV pictures up against FA Cup semi-final, Monty Python and WW1 commemoration

The production team behind TV coverage of the opening stage of last year’s Tour de France in Yorkshire have been nominated for a Television BAFTA.

The programme, made by specialist road and track cycling production company Vsquared, has been nominated in the Sport & Live Events category.

The three other programmes nominated are:

• The FA Cup Semi-Final between Hull City and Sheffield United

• Monty Python (Mostly) Live: One Down, Five To Go and

• WW1 Remembered – From The Battlefield & Westminster Abbey.

Three individuals are nominated for the award for the Tour de France coverage - Steve Docherty, Carolyn Viccari and James Venner.

Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “We are absolutely delighted that the coverage of Stage 1 of the Yorkshire Grand Départ of the Tour de France has been nominated for a BAFTA.

“It was incredible as nearly 4 million people lined the route as the race made its way through the UK.

“The images from the day captured the enormity and excitement of the event and winning a BAFTA would be an incredible achievement for all concerned,” he added.

Does anyone know where the full stage 2 coverage is available from? Only caught the highlights, and I want to watch the whole stage.

I think that stage 2 should've been nominated instead. But then that's only because I was at that and not stage 1
