British Cycling seeking volunteers for UCI Track Cycling World Championships

British Cycling is looking for volunteers to help with the 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. The event will take place from March 2 to March 6 at the Lee Valley Velopark, although volunteers will also be required in various roles from February 23 to March 7.

The appeal has been launched to coincide with Volunteers’ Week (June 1-7) and applications will close on Friday August 28. Over 200 volunteers will be required to fill a variety of roles, from programme sellers and accreditation distributors to media and sports assistants. As well as covering the event itself, people will also be needed for event preparation and training days the previous week.

Jonny Clay, British Cycling’s cycle sport and membership director, said:

“Britain has established an international reputation for its sport volunteers and it will be no different for the 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. Whether helping spectators, looking after the media or supporting the athletes, volunteers will be a vital part of delivering this world-class event.

“This is a hugely significant event in the sporting calendar as the best track cyclists on the planet descend on London to contest world titles. We’re offering people a fantastic opportunity to get behind the scenes and make a special contribution to an event that will live long in the memory.”

Applicants must be 18 years of age or over by Monday 15th February 2016 and available for a minimum of five shifts between Tuesday February 23 and Monday March 7 2016. The plan is to have recruitment concluded by Monday November 30 2015. If you’re interested, you can apply here.
