Video: Turbo-saw - cyclist chops wood while training by fixing saw to pedal

Running low on firewood but itching to get out on the bike? This guy's got the solution .....

Imagine your home has a wood-burning stove or an open fire, and you’re running very low on firewood and need to chop some logs up. But at the same time, you’re absolutely desperate to get some training in on your bike.

Well, one enterprising cyclist in a video we stumbled across on YouTube has come up with the perfect solution to that dilemma that enables him to do both.

He’s replaced the front wheel of his bike with a saw, attached to the right pedal – and seems to be having a whale of a time as the blade rocks backwards and forwards with each pedal stroke.

Simon joined road.cc as news editor in 2009 and is now the site’s community editor, acting as a link between the team producing the content and our readers. A law and languages graduate, published translator and former retail analyst, he has reported on issues as diverse as cycling-related court cases, anti-doping investigations, the latest developments in the bike industry and the sport’s biggest races. Now back in London full-time after 15 years living in Oxford and Cambridge, he loves cycling along the Thames but misses having his former riding buddy, Elodie the miniature schnauzer, in the basket in front of him.

I believe this may be up the end of the valley at Lenk in Switzerland  next to a nicew little cafe. A good way to get tourists to cut wood for you huh?

Why is he not wearing HI-Vis? Doesn't he know how dangerous this could be?

I reminds me of a video I came across on line.

It featured a young lady on her bicycle. She too had attached a non-cycling accessory to work in time to the pedaling motion.
Like this cyclist she was having a whale of a time and while her contraption did not produce any usable bi-product like firewood it certainly looked like the experience was so enjoyable it might encourage her to 'train harder'.

I think I know exactly what type of video you're talking about.

And I thought Pinarello's latest offering qualified as "bike-porn"

he'd be better off with elliptical chainrings to eliminate the dead spots to produce a better cut.
