Sir Bradley Wiggins says that Britain’s pursuit team are aiming to win gold with a world record time at the Olympic Games in Rio.
The current record of 3min 51.659sec is held by Ed Clancy, Peter Kennaugh, Steven Burke and Geraint Thomas, who set the mark at the London Games. However, Wiggins told Sky Sports that the current squad will be aiming for 3min 49sec.
"To win gold at the Olympics, we will have to break the world record. That's standard. At every Olympics it comes down, and that's the target we have set ourselves, that 3min 49sec, which will probably good enough to win it. You have got to reach for the stars. We are on course for it, at the moment. Definitely."

Wiggins also said that he would ride the Madison at the 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in partnership with Mark Cavendish. The event takes place in London from March 2-6 and will be the last top-level international track meeting before the Olympics.
"I don't think it's confirmed,” said Wiggins when asked whether he would be teaming up with Cavendish. “But we're doing it, yeah."
Wiggins has just finished racing for his eponymous team at the Dubai Tour where he was asked to comment on the recent case of mechanical doping at the Cyclo-Cross World Championships.
“I think it is the first one they’ve found, but I’m sure that it has happened in the past, but they haven’t found them. It’s just one of those things,” he said.
Bloody hell... How are you doing now?
