Interactive map of cyclist-friendly cafés updated

Now includes cyclist-friendly accommodation too

Crowd-sourcing at its best. Café Network – a Google Map on which cyclist-friendly cafés and accommodation, bike shops and cycling clubs are marked – has recently been updated.

Based on recommendations by cyclists, the map now features 1,775 cafes, 256 bike shops, 92 cycling clubs and 72 places to stay – very handy information when you’re planning your next ride.

The map’s pretty straightforward to use. Zoom in, scroll around and click on the various icons to bring up more detailed information.

10 of the best cycling cafés as voted for by you

Another update is scheduled for October 8 and John Bowerbank and Heidi Hassall, the founders of Cafe Network, are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has stayed in cyclist-friendly accommodation. If you have, you can nominate the place in question here.

There are further links on the Café Network home page which allow you to recommend cafés/tea rooms, bike shops and cycling clubs.

Mapping cycling friendly cafes and good bike shops is something we’ve always been keen in here at road.cc - in fact it something that we’ve been doing ourselves for the last couple of years with our map of cyclist friendly cafes that offer discounts to team road.cc members. Our road.cc discount map also features bikes shops that offer discounts too - on production of a team road.cc membership card.

You can find out more about how to become a road.cc member here.

Alex has written for more cricket publications than the rest of the road.cc team combined. Despite the apparent evidence of this picture, he doesn't especially like cake.

Thanks for the article road.cc! As a result of this, we have had over 120 new recommendations which we will be adding to the map shortly. Just to let everyone know, Cafe Network has a free app available to Android and Apple device users - just go to the app store and search on 'Cafe Network' laugh

Good, very useful, found a couple on my usual routes that I didn't know about. Thank you.

Thanks for this. Will definitely be swinging by the Dynamo in Putney - that's a new one for me.

Really that's such a good idea!

Wish they'd add a definitely unfriendly tab to it though. And there are some for sure.

We do have a rating system which gives a balanced view. Too many negatives will see the cafe removed.

Positive reports are fine, a page of explicit negative reports opens you up to legal action.

How?

Loads of negative reviews on sites like Google and TA and businesses can't get any help from the courts.
