Gloucester cyclist carried on car bonnet for more than 200m before driver fled

Police investigating whether collision may have been deliberate

Gloucestershire police are appealing for witnesses following a late-night incident in which a cyclist was carried for 200m on the bonnet of a car before hitting the wall of The Treddy pub in Tredworth. Gloucestershire Live reports that the driver fled the scene on foot.

The incident, which took place on Tuesday night at around 10.30pm, resulted in what are described as non-life threatening injuries to the 18-year-old victim’s head and one of his legs. He was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital as a precaution but has since been released.

Police are asking for the public's help to identify the driver, who was in a silver Peugeot 106 and may have been seen earlier in the day.

A Gloucestershire police spokesman said they were investigating whether the cyclist was deliberately driven at.

"A male ran off from the vehicle along the Laurels. Offender was described as white male 5ft 6in to 5ft 7in tall with a slim build and wearing a grey hoodie. Various CCTV and house to house inquiries will continue today."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 481 of October 18.
