World champion Peter Sagan has signed up to Eurosport for the Tour de France, which starts in Düsseldorf on Saturday and will be answering fans’ questions throughout the race during the TV channel’s coverage.
The 27-year-old Bora-Hansgrohe rider, who is seeking a record-equalling sixth green jersey, will respond on air to questions chosen from social media posts that carry the #AskSagan hashtag.
Questions can be put to the Slovak through the Eurosport Twitter, Facebook or Instagram accounts, as well as through Sagan’s own Facebook and Twitter feeds.
Sagan said: "I'm delighted to partner with Eurosport for this project that will further connect fans and spectators with the great sport of cycling.
“Be creative, ask me your questions using the #AskSagan hashtag and I will reply to the best ones every day during the Tour de France."
Laurence Schirrecker-Mothes, Eurosport’s Global Head of Cycling Production, commented: “Peter is the most recognisable and charismatic rider in the peloton – he truly transcends the sport – so we are delighted to be partnering with him.
“His success, style and fun-loving attitude has earned him a global fan base and we are thrilled that our viewers across Europe, and around the world via our digital platforms, will get the chance to put their questions to him during the Tour.”
The initiative will kick off with a Facebook Live event in Düsseldorf this Thursday.
