I like the way the copper jumps out of the van and goes straight to the Boris bike to check it's ok, picks it up then gets the thief.
No wonder that happened what with the chap on the bike not wearing a helmet or hi-viz and straying outside of the cycle lane.
It seems that dooring is like nuclear fission. It can be used for good or evil, and you don't want to get any on you.
Good to see such high quality images from the security cameras. We'll be seeing an increase in the aprehension of bike thieves now, won.t we?
wow, the fuckin moron had his time, did not care if it is broad daylight or anyone watching! new era! we are fucked big time! we are pooled with criminals that fear nothing and have nothing to loose! they will stab your wife and children to obtain a belt or a pair of shoes from you. WE ARE FUCKED! by the way, the police was faaast!!!
Cyclist assaulted by van passenger, cyclist gets 28 weeks inside. Is there no justice?
Armchair coppers criticising the police the police who have to make an instant decision. They can't win. If he'd have got away they'd have been pilloried. He was apprehended and wasn't hurt - a job well done for the boys in blue
Apprehended and wasn't hurt, but "there is an unnerving moment when it looks like the police van will run over his head".
I'm not defending the thief, but here in the UK I think the police aren't allowed to just beat up alleged offenders (not since the seventies): or are we now back in the end justifies the means? (yes I hit him with a brick but he was about to run away, m'lud)
He was using the door to gauge if he had left 1.5m safe passing distance...they forgot to bring the mat with them...
Next he'll be claiming he knew there was a criminal there...
When police forces behave like this in France, we encounter 2 weeks of riot.
Three cars (I assume legally) parked in the bike lanes. It wonder if it was worth the paint.
That was like something out of Benny Hill. Would have funnier if he' had his head run over though.
No sympathy for thieves , it's a pity more of them don't 'fall down the stairs' as well.
That was an exceedingly irresponsible action by the copper.
Those Boris bikes are not indestructible you know.
I hope that he is sent on a bicycle maintenance course to help him understand the possible consequences of his impetuous action.
As for the scrote? Got what he deserved, riding outside of the cycle lane.
How does that square with police saying that they can't do this or that because of the risk of harm (even such a risk to an alleged offender , like "can't chase that car/scooter because they might crash")? Hey, but it's now OK to commit an *actual* offence while trying to apprehend an alleged offender...
